Of Hard Rock, and Fukked Up, and Cafe, and mice

Please note that Cafe, once spelled Café, means Coffee, which also means Kawa, and, luckily enough,

-I'm currently busy, drinking coffee on Monday's morning, I like happy Mondays, I don't especially hate anything while I drink coffee in the morning

-After months of what wouldn't be cleverly called a hiatus, the people of mice is back where I am currently. One of its members has been seen around, it started a few weeks ago. I'm so delighted of this that yesterday I provided him, or her, with a cumbersome (for a mouse) quantity of feta cheese

And then, now I'm writing, and, this is also true, it's now time to stop writing, and to go fill another mug (be sure that the coffee here is relatively lightly caffeine-loaded according to the standards of most countries).

"An armored vehicle is slower than a formula one, and then it is more difficult to stop one"

(Sun Tzu, A short example on how to apply the lesson from The Art Of War when you are a musician, on Sun Tzu's blog)
(please note that since blogs, at this time, were seen at less important than books, it is now much harder to fine quote from blogs of this time, than from books)

Just to sum up a bit, when I started writing for Underketing about one year ago, the aims were  :

-to make sure that there would be a somehow more central place for my little music review hobby that wasted some of my time since a few years back
-to promote myself, by talking about my favorite music projects (and this point is very important, since most of them will be featured in the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame, including field recording remixer's projects, before the current nanosecond ends)

Also, I didn't want to waist time looking for what had already been written, and I wanted to write honestly, so I started by machinegun-style posting reviews for any good record I could remember. The honest part of the thing resides in the idea that with less time to think, I wouldn't have enough time to counterfeit my feeling.

At this time, among the bands featured, was Fukked Up :

"(...)don't be surprised if someday you wake up and discover they ate the music world for their breakfast."

(taken from These Guys Are review final sentence)

A random thing that cross my mind now, is that it would be useful to mention that after issuing their newest release in mid-2012, their band-owned and operated label's website blew up, maybe due to poor hardware at the commercial hosting facilities they use, while everything was ready for (as of per usual) free download and (as of per usual) very cheap and high quality physical sound-carrying devices distribution.

Do I need to quote Sun Tzu once again ?

There, for the "hard rock" part of the title of this post : http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxPxOekNl9-WhOYjawxE7zRoTbKPAqMnz

I can now start to drink the coffee in the mug. The coffee should be quite cool, I like it like that.

Before the news, After The Smoke

Hi there,

I guess there's not many of the usual readers of this crappy thing that has been a website... Ahem, a website-faking blog... And that is now a not-even-blog-faking blog... But I may be wrong... That are currently (and, just wondering, is there any usual readers for all this, at all ? ) located near south, maybe southwest, oh, ladies and gentlemen, if you were on twitter you would have an acronym to guide you, and a symbol before, and you would be maybe already clicking somewhere (if you are, depending of your location, rich or poor) or gently touching a friendly smooth and rectangular surface (if you are, depending of your income, geolocated or not), but, what is this ?

Ok, I'll sum up :

After The Smoke is, as far as I know, currently at SXSW. They produce something that, as someone as dumb as me when talking about hip-hop, I would define as hiphop-do. Do is to be taken in the Japanese sense, which is the one of the Chinese word tao.

A thing that may be interesting to some : I'm listening while writing (now, Wallstreet, there's a YouTube on video, or the contrary), and although, before pushing the "play" button, I had noticed the "Marcus Garvey" title, which made me think, if not to Marcus Garvey, to the Sion orbital place in Neuromancer (there is a spacecraft of this name, and Maelcum's Sion's Marines, and Maelcum, also, is the spacecraft's pilot) and also, I thought of a random and honest kid wishing to establish definitively what he is by using a somehow known reference - I think, also, this possee is not a kid possee - , when I noticed that due to time that goes by and may cause this paper to be on time for SXSW 2014,  I was checking,  and saw I hadn't even noticed anything, Marcus Garvey was no longer playing, and since, I'm happier.

Hey, but, they are excellent. Is this sentence induced by "Typical Weekend" ? It's up to you to decide : http://afterthesmoke.tumblr.com/

Lord. While checking for typo and correcting and thinking, time went bye. You guessed ? Sure. "Never Be". I press publish. I'll press publish. I'm pressing publ

What's up here

Hi ppl,

Here comes some news from somewhere between Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

To be a little less fuzzy, let's say that it's sort of Michigan news. Yeah, you got me, Already Dead Tapes & Records just spammed once again one of my numerous mailboxes. Please note that the use of the canned-meat word in the previous sentence is ironic.

September 19-21 : : Kalamazoo : : Michigan...

I cannot promise I'll have the time to get a plane license, buy an used Spirit Of Saint Louis, turn it back to life as I did for my walkman®  recently, cross the ocean, land in Kalamazoo just in time for the 3rd family reunion of the label and take a trip to the air zoo then go to Mexico, load a full load of Thai weed, dive bomb it to Marin County on my way back, take a little rest in Antarctica and go back home on time for Thanksgiving. But anyway, this is true, the event is planed, dya got a calendar ? Throw it to dustbin and use a tattoo artist.

And now for somehow awesome completely different somethin'...

"The element of mystery has that enchanting possibility to leave one to wonder. Afterwards, the hope is for there to be a continuance in the search. Ichtyor Tides runs deep with mystery and plunges through the fuzz, whirs, and drones – all singing in a strange and unified chorus. Like an odd phenomena, “Eever Schemes” still binds the laconic song to the menial noise. It is albums like these that present the strong metaphors to the strange musical sounds of the modern mystery."

AD062 - Ian Shaw & David Shrigley ‘Awesome’
"A short but notable album, “Awesome” is the collaboration of Iain Shaw and the renowned artist, David Shrigley, as they ride along the tides of a simple, minimalistic sound. The songs drive into and explore a few interpretations of some common definitions. Through cute yet thought-provoking pictorial stories, the two present themselves as comfortable in their making of art and music. While Shrigley narrates thoughts through spoken-word tracks, Iain Shaw amiably sings over his acoustic guitar. Having a goodwill and friendly qualities, the new release can bring an agreeable sentiment to any sociable listener. So come, and have a listen."

AD063 - Mahatma Dali ‘Lux Lucis’

"According to scholars, music is exclusive to noise. In the album “Lux Lucis,” Mahatma Dali pushes the academic interpretations of music for the participating audience to experience a noisy breed of music. Listeners will find soundscapes, drones, tone-clusters compiled with analog sounds. A unique blend of minimalism and an expressed recollective project, M. Dali, finds the first full-length album in its own genre: “meditative/anti-meditative”. To get a full meaning of music, take a good listen and close/open your eyes – it's “Lux Lucis” by Mahatma Dali."

AD064 - Dozen Drafts ‘Hands’
"The relationship between the listener and the composer results in a beloved time of sharing. For Babis Bozoglou, creator of Dozen Draft, there is so much to share. The latest Dozen Draft release, “Hands,” has a way to keep the audience involved and stimulated. Culturally induced with tribal drum patterns mixed with 60's-70's psychedelic pop/rock is an alluring charm. It's colorful, brilliant, and intense – so have a listen and shake “Hands” with Dozen Draft."

AD065 - Wham Jah ‘Alkaline’
"Wham Jah can perhaps be represented as a haunting episode of rock and roll. “Alkaline,” the latest release by the 'zombie rock' group, applies modernity to the jazz/rock fusion but with an industrial noise-punk flair. Hailing from Athens, Greece, it broods, glooms, and attacks. The intense guitars, the heavy-hitting drums, the squawking saxophones and all of the other effects conjures a great and aggressive sound."

AD066 - Ou Ou ‘Geocities’
"Less ambient and more rhythmic, Ou Où grabs at the extremes of both of their sounds and places them into one album – “Geocities,” (a very fitting album title for extremes being pushed.) “Geocities” is a pulsating journey that never skips a beat. The drones have found a moving rhythm and the electronics compliment the brighter shade of ambience. It is a pleasure to bring to you Ou Où's latest release: Geocities."

AD067 - Problems That Fix Themselves / Music You Can Swim To 'Split EP'
"The new split from Music You Can Swim To and Problems That Fix Themselves shows an etiquette to rhythm and melody. While one is imposed with impressive styles, slowly but beautifully, the collaboration of the two groups makes an electronic sound feel more organic. I'm happy that these two came together, I'm happy that it sounds raw, and I'm happy that it is sonorous. What else can I say: I'm very happy for this release."

AD068 - Bill Tucker ‘Contagious Fever Illness’
"There is a Bruce Springsteen album called “Darkness on the Edge of Town.” This album sounds nothing like that, but it's still good. With a few words to help you determine what I mean by good, Bill Tucker has a way of creating such a strange concept as anarchy through sporadic sounds and messy noises. Check out his noise synth odyssey on the new album 'Contagious Fever Illness.'"
